A new lane

Image
Together, we practiced some great team work and made a new lane. First we began by weeding the lane as best we could. We then poured compost over the lane and spread it evenly throughout. We then placed hay above the compost . In the middle of the lane there is a large weed we decided to keep for sentimental reasons. We are using it as a divider to separate one side of the lane to the other.

Team work with a side of tasty tomatoes !

Image
The team members shown above are Nicole and Lauren. Both Nicole and Lauren worked together to tie some of the tomato plants to the bamboo sticks. Some have grown too tall and have begun to lean or cover other crops. As also shown in the image, the tomatoes are also beginning to visibly grow. Everyone in the team is very excited to be able to harvest some tasty tomatoes.

Marigolds

Image
This photo was taken by team member Destany. She took some of her own time to plant these marigolds around the middle area of our plot. They seem to be growing nicely next to the cosmos to the right. Which are also growing beautifully but have not yet bloomed. To the left are some weeds that need to be dealt with and also an open area where we can plant some more crops.

Carrots

Image
In the beginning of our planning journey, we had a few crops in mind that we all had on our wish list. One of the crops we all wanted and agreed on were carrots. Shown above, team member Destany direct seeded carrots into all of the open holes. It is safe to say, we are very excited to be able to harvest these.

More direct seeding

This image was taken by team member Destany, as was the previous post. She took her time to plant some royal snap peas in the open holes as shown in the image. These royal snap peas were placed next to the eggplants. The eggplants seem to be growing very well and are no showing any issues.
